Opouriao Farmer Injured When Tractor Capsizes
Mr Godfrey Santon, a middleaged farmer of the Opouriao district, suffered a fractured pelvis when the tractor he was driving on his property overturned on him on Tuesday afternoon about 4.30. When Mr Santon was injured he was negotiating a sidling after comuleting a day’s top-dressing. His tractor rolled on top of him, then rolled back on ’ its four wheels. The Whakatane District St John Ambulance arrived on the scene at 5 o’clock and brought the patient into the Whakatane District Hospital, where an immediate X-ray was called for just as the power cut started. Emergency power proved insufficient to operate the X-ray unit, so the normal power had to be switched on after only ten minutes or so of black out. iThe latest report from the hospital is that Mr Santon’s condition is satisfactory. ,
