Mr T. F. Haughey, architect to the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board, is visiting Whakatane todayl. Mr J. P. Caulfield, of Otakiri, is at present in Sydney, one of a group of New Zealand farmers on a tour to Australia. Mr V. Tregowarth who has been spending his holidays in Whakatane turned to his home in Huntly on Sunday. Sergeant A. B. Collinge, who has been relieving officer in charge of the Whakatane Police Station for the past few months, returned to his home at Auckland yesterday. Mr B. S. Barry, Mayor of Whakatane, accompanied by Mrs Barry left today for Dunedin where Mr Barry will attend the Municipal Conference. He is expected to return on April 20. Mr J. A. Mitchell, of Waimana, a member of the Bay of Plenty Hospotal Board, is at present in hospital at Auckland, where he recently underwent an operation. Yesterday.’s meeting of the Board expressed its sympathy and good wishes. Mr W. S. Henderson, who has served for 10 years as president of the Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union, was elected a life member of that body at its annual meeting on Wednesday night in recogntion of his outstanding work for the game in this district.
