Archbishop Warns Of Britain’s Dire Food Need
For the second time in four days. Dr. Garbett, Archbishop of York, recently warned the people of Britain that they faced hunger. “There are still incurable optimists who refuse to face the hard facts,” he said in his diocesan letter. “This crisis has been foreseen for months past by every responsible financier. The worst is not yet over. “The sooner the seriousness of the position is generally understood, the sooner will the nation respond to the challenge, it makes. There is no reason to despair, provided that the whole community- meets the ’crisis with the spirit it showed after Dunkirk.” Potato rationing said Dr. Garbett, I was "a severe blow.” He adds: “It I will- mean much hardship among j those who have been accustomed Ito use them as an essential food.
