Domestic Aid For Farmers’ Wives In Busy Seasons
The problem faced by many farmers’ wives during harvesting and other busy seasons when meals have to be provided for large numbers of workers, was discussed by the .Aid for Britain National Council recently. Knowing the extra burden which is placed on wives and daughters at such seasons, members of the Council were anxious to find some way of providing relief. The Women’s Auxiliary was asked to take up the question, and one of its representatives accordingly held discussions with women’s organisations and the Department of Labour and. Employment. Difficulty was met with in the fact that there were no figures available to show the amount of domestic help which would be required.
It has been decided to ask district committees of the Aid for Britain organisation to follow up this matter in their own areas. Where the need for domestic help is found everything possible will be done to obtain women and girls to fill the vacancies.
