Young Farmers’ Clubs Organise “Leadership” Evening This Month
The Leadership evening mooted by the Eastern Bay of Plenty executive of the Y.F.C. in January is to be held in the Awakeri Hall on April 20. This idea was conceived to take the place of the Leadership week sponsored by the Auckland executive of the Y.F.C., which, however, could not be attended by members of the local clubs because they were unable to obtain the necessary holidays at that time. The evening is to take the form of instructional addresses by the leading local authorities on such sub! jects as formality at meetings, hints to club chairmen, secretaries and treasurers, and the preparing of material for publication. Various speakers will hold the floor for ten minutes to deliver their lecturettes then the remainder of the 20 minutes will be taken up by discussion and questions. Lecturers listed on the - programme now being circulated will be Messrs lan Gow, Edgecumbe, A. V. Alio, district secretary, Western Bay of Plenty, Alan Bridger, Whakatane, Gordon Spratt, chairman of the Auckland Council, Te Puke, D. C. Stevens, editor of the Beacon, E. R. Marryatt, district secretary, and C. R. Wilson, Edgecumbe. Attendance by as many executive officers, of Young Farmers’ Clubs as possible is urged by the organisers, who feel that the evening will do much to improve the organisation and handling of club meetings.
