Rugby Referees Elect Season's Officers

The annual meeting of the Whakatane Rugby Referees' Association was held in the Borough Council Chambers last Wednesday evening. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance, largely because the grant from the Rugby Union was received right at the end of the season. Before that the funds of the Association were well-nigh exhausted. The following officers were elected: President, Mr B. Norman; vicepresident, Mr R. Woolliams; delegate to Bay of Plenty Rugby Referees' Association, Mr J. Whitehead; delegate to Whakatane Rugby Union, Mr Norman. The election of a secretary-treasurer was deferred until the next meeting, the previous secretary intimating that he would be unable to carry on owing to pressure of work.
