Group Of Famous Singers To Aid Music At Manila

Headed by Lauretz Melchior, a group of the world’s outstanding singers including Lili Pons, Enzio Pinza and Helen Traubel, will band together to' bring music back to the war-torn city of Manila. Before the war, Manila had one of the finest symphony orchestras in the world. During the war, however, all the musical instruments, music, and orchestral arrangements were either destroyed or confiscated by the Japs. Melchior hopes to give the first of a scries of concerts for this cause shortly. Funds will bo used to buy both instruments and music.
