Fire Brigades' Meet: No Local Luck

No Major Placings To Bay Brigades In Fire Fighters' Competitions

By the extremely narrow margin of a point, the Stratford Fire Brigade won the championship shield for the most points in all events when the New Zealand United Fire Brigades Association concluded its national demonstration on Cook's Garden, Wahganui. Brigades from all parts of the Dominion took part and the standard reached was described as the highest for some years. The Petone Fire Brigade, after leading on "the championship ladder for the greater part of the demonstration, obtained a total of 94 points, but was headed by Stratford with 94 2-12 points. The final result was not known till the conclusion of the last event on the programme. Stratford put up a remarkable performance completing their work, but were penalised 5 seconds.
