Parcels For Palestine Advice has been received by the Postmaster at Whakatane from the British Post Office of the suspension of the parcel post service to Palestine, except to British Forces in that country, and to the Palestine police. Vast Improvement A vast improvement to the Quay at the back of the Strand has been effected by Borough Council workmen .recently. The surface of the road has been completely re-laid and metalled. The tidiness and lack of rubbish, ih conjunction with the toning down of the usual hearty smell to a mere whiff, have put it on the road to being the street it could be and, indeed, should be. First In The World The Oceania Daily News, carrying the slogan "The first newspaper published in the world," because it is located in Suva only 90 miles from the international date line, has begun publication as a morning newspaper. Suva already has an afternoon paper, the Fiji Times and Herald.
