South African Snooker Champion To Play Here
Peter Mans the South African snooker champion who is to represent that country at the British Empire snooker, championships to be held in Sydney later this year is at present on a tour of New Zealand. Thirty years old, Mans has a number of impressive breaks to his credit, the best being a break of 137, when he cleared all the balls in a single visit. Other century breaks include 113 at Sydney, 114 and 117 at Dunedin.
Mans began playing snooker at the age of seven, winning the South African title at 24. His biggest wish is to meet Horace Lindrum at Sydney. Snooker is not the only sport that has interested him however. He has also taken an active part in Rugby football, besides having had several professional fights as a boxer. After suffering a severe injury to 'his foot, Mans decided to concentrate on snooker as his sport.
