Present Licenses For Basic Allocations Only; “Specials” Being Considered
Licences covering the basic allocations announced by the Minister of Supply, Mr Nordmeyer, on February 19, for the various classes of commercial users have already been received by most local business firms, Mr Trask said on Wednesday, when a statement to that effect was referred to hwn for confirmation. *
He also confirmed that it had been officially stated that licences had been issued only for those quantities mentioned by the Minister for the respective types of businesses. The applications for special grants had still to be considered but it was thought that the basic allocations would be sufficient for most commercial consumers until their cases had been considered. Each application would be treated on its merits and a decision reached as quickly as possible.
