Whakatane Hockey Umpires’ Association Accepts New Constitution At Meeting

A new giving the Whakatane Hockey Umpires Association wider and more varied powers was aceepted at the annual meeting on Friday evening. After the reading of the minutes and the balance sheet, Mr N. Rigden thanked all the umpires who had given so much of their time to the controlling of hockey in this district and whose efforts made the last season the success that it was. The secretary, Mr B. Henderson, thanked the St. John .Ambulance Association, all the women umpires and the clubs in the competition for their support during the last season, and hoped the coming season would be as successful as the last. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr C. Armstrong; president, Mr F. A. Dawson; vice-pre-sident, Mr Riini; secretary-treasurer, Mr B. Henderson; auditor, Mr Q, Armstrong; selection committee the president, Messrs N. Rigden, B. Henderson and K. Civil; delegate to the Bay of Plenty Hockey Association, Mr B. Henderson; delegate to the Matatua association, Mr Riini. It was resolved that the delegate, Mr Henderson, should not vote at the coming Hockey Association meeting on the subject of Sunday or Saturday play.
