Bookmaking Alleged: Two Men Charged

In the Whakatane Police Court on Friday, James Clarence DempsterRivett, fruiterer, and Joseph Plamus, tobacconist, both of Whakatane, were charged before Mr. I. B. Hubbard, J.P., with carrying on the business of bookmaking on February 20.

Both were remanded to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on March 2. Each was allowed bail, £IOO in his own recognisance.
