COMMUNISTS, ZIONISTS AND / MK BRADSHAW Sir, —Whilst I am prepared to concede that Mr W.-Bradshaw’s originality is refreshing, and his letters often entertaining, I cannot help doubting the accuracy of some of his statements in Tuesday’s Beacon. What, on earth makes Mr Bradshaw believe that New York Zionists controlled the Russian Communists at the time of the revolution in 1917? It would appear he reasons like this: “I, W. Bradshaw, dislike Zionists; I also dislike Communists. Ergo, they are one, and may the Devil take the union.” ■ Simple, no doubt. But hardly logical. I am neither a Zionist nor a Communist. But I am a believer in truth and fair play, and I cannot help feeling that Mr Bradshaw has let his fearful imaginings over-rule his reasoning capacity. It is generally accepted by social scientists the world over that Capitalism afid Communism are antitheses. Mr Bradshaw’s garbled thinking identifies extreme capitalism with Zionism and then places it in charge of Communism. I shall be surprised if no Communists or Zionists (if there are anyhere) challenge him to' prove his statements. Yours etc., “PLAY THE GAME.” SEPTIC TANKS OR NIGHTMEN? Sir, —The suggestion made at the Borough Council’s last meeting re . the installation of septic tanks is a good one. "• Seeing there is no possibility of a sewerage scheme being started for a very long time, septic tanks seem to be the answer. At present the rate is £3 per year which will go on indefinitely, whereas with the scheme suggested the cost will eventually be liquidated and leave the ratepayer with an asset. Those affected must realise the advantages of such a scheme and should be only too pleased to have a tank installed without being involved in a heavy capital outlay. Added to the cost of the present system is that of disinfectant and this would be considerably reduced under the new proposal. From a health aspect,-the community as a whole would benefit in the lessening of the fly menace and the consequent curtailment in the spread of infection from this source. Yours etc. > WORKING RATEPAYER.
