Miss V. M. Hannah of Ifae Bank of New Zealand staff, is on sick leave due to a fall from her bicycle.
John and Allen Taylor, of Whakatane, have just returned from a cycling tour of the Waikato and Auckland districts.
Mr W. Mussefrt is staying with his brother, Mr J. E. Mussett, Valley Road, and expects to leave shortly for Malaya, via Australia, to resume his duties there.
Commissioner Hyde of the Legion of Frontiersmen* arrived in Whakatane yesterday to view Y Squadron of the Legion. He left for Tauranga today.
Mr H. L. King, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Whakatane, is on an extended motor tour do.wn the east coast via Waikaremoana. Mr J. Wilson is relieving manager in Mr King’s absence.
Mr R. F. McElwain, B.Agr. Sc., of Waiuku, who graduated at Massey Agricultural College, leM, New Zealand last week for Wye College, Kent, "England,, where, he has accepted an appointment under Professor M. McG. Cooper, formerly of the lecturing staff of Massey College. Mr McElwain was a student at the College until the ehd of last year, and for .two years was president of the Students’ Association. He has accepted the English appointment with a view to gaining first-hand experience of agriculture in overseas countries.
