Age Limit On Farm And Business Assistance For Members Of J. Force

To ensure that they will not be handicapped by lack of age or experience, ex-members of the “J” Force with the requisitive service in Japan only, for rehabilitation aid, will have to be at least 25 years of age before being assisted on to a farm or into a business of ' their own. This has been decided by the Rehabilitation Board.

Further conditions for farming assistance are that the men concerned be employed in farm work for a minimum and continuous period of 12 months following their discharge from the armed forces, and, as with all ex-servicemen applicants, they be graded “A” by their relevant rehabilitation farming sub-committee for the 'type of farming proposed. Farm training will, however, be given irrespective of age.

Like other ex-servicemen who served in a garrison area during the war years, members of “J’ Force are eligible to apply for all forms of rehabilitation assistance after having done 12 months duty in Japan, even if that is the full extent of their service.

Apart from farm and business establishment, such ex-members of “J” Force can apply for other forms of rehabilitation aid and they will be considered on the normal basis without any age qualification. This includes trade and career training, educational assistance where warranted, and loans for housing furniture and tools of trade. Even those with shorter service than the stipulated 12 months may apply for trade and career training where it is apparent that their service has hindered their training for a permanent occupation.
