Letter Of Appreciation From English School To Local Junior Red Cross

This letter has been • received by Miss M. Lawes, district Junior Red Cross organiser, from the Portsea School, England:— “I intended to write you earlier this month, but delayed because I had news of the two wooden cases of food that you sent as the original consignment. You will be pleased to know that they have now arrived quite safely and 17 out of the 20 parcels have come also. The parcels created quite a sensation as about 12 of them arrived a few days before we dispersed for Christmas. We are extremely grateful to you all'for your kindness. What lovely cake! As I told Mr Hubbard we simply couldn’t believe it. We haven’t seen so much fruit for years. The gifts and clothing have proved very helpful too' and Mfcss Fawsitt and Miss Hickish in charge of the girls’ and infant’s schools were delighted. Thank you also for the batch of letters, written by your -children. I hope you will soon receive some from us in reply. The winter here has been a very mild and very wet one. It was very severe last year with plenty of snow, Taut we’ve hardly seen a single snowflake this winter. However there’s still time, so we musn’t shout too soon.”
