REFLECTING AND EXPECTING

Reflecting and expecting As the years go by .We farewell the old and greet the new As with time they fly Speeding the departing Welcoming the coming guest Reflecting and expecting Hoping for the best. 'At the end of life’s long journey We* learn to watch and wait For the solving of the problems Proposed by time and fate. And come to the conclusion What a little part we play Be it for good or evil As.wb pass along life’s way The only consolation As life draws to its close Is what we’ve done to lessen Life’s varied cares and woes The kindly thought or word or deed For the afflicted in sore need Of assistance genuine and kind. For many a wounded heart and mind The victims of a world unkind Too self-centred to relent On material wealth intent That when life’s journey is done Oft keeps the soul’s face from the sun .. • Of truth and righteousness that reveals On the scales that neither begs nor steals The good or evil we have done Our thoughts words deeds to everyone And leaves us and our life’s record To the mercy of a righteous Lord Whose verdict is written for all to see In His parable that plainly says That those who boasted of righteous ways Were condemned for lack of charity But of those who acted mercifully “He said” ye did it “unto me.” H. SERGANT.
