Vital Statistics In Whakatane Last Year
Seven more births were recorded in Whakatane during 1947 than during 1946, the total being 427 as comared with 420 registered the previous year. Deaths have occurred on an average of one a week over the last two years, 52 having been registered for 1946 as well as for 1947. Marriages have shown a considerable decline from the 1946 total of 84, only 67 being registered in 1947. A comparison of the months of December over the two years 1946 and 1947 shows a decrease in births, but an increase in deaths and marriages. The figures (December 1946 ' in parentheses) are: Births, 30 (38), marriages 6 (4), deaths 6 (2).
