Driver In Hospital Following Truck’s Dive From Ohope Road

Suffering concussion when the light truck he was driving somersaulted down a steep bank on the Ohope road .on Christmas Eve, Mr Frederick Peter Dredge, aged 24, a factory hand from the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Co’s factory at Edgecumbe, spent the holidays in hospital.

A passenger and fellow worker of Mr Dredge’s, Mr Murray Williams, was unhurt. The truck is a wreck. It appears the two young men were on their way to the cabaret at Ohope and, while rounding a sharp left-hand bend, the driver’s door of the sedan cab flew open. In trying to shut it, Mr Dredge lost control of the vehicle which left the road and somersaulted down the bank.
