Eastern Bay Red Cross Food For Britain Effort
This year to date £l6l 18s 6d has been sent from the Eastern Bay of Plenty Red Cross Centre-to the Waikato Food for Britain Fund. This includes donations from Red Cross sub-centres in the district, Mrs Newman, Mrs J. J. Laskey, the Whakatane Rotary Club and Whakatane Chamber of Commerce.
Every penny of this Fund is spent on food bought wholesale and shipped inbulk. The secretary received a letter last week advising that on Whakatane’s behalf, 63 cases of malted milk have been shipped to London per the “Hartlepool.” Each case contains 480-lb. tins.
