Chinese In New Zealand
The following motion was passed by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand: That the Assembly express its gratitude to the Government for the sympathetic reception given to the deputation from the Dunedin Presbytery and the Inter-Church Council which put before the Prime Minister the Church’s views on the situation of the Chinese war refugees in New Zealand and that it put on record its cordial approval of the action of the Government in giving generous treatment to the/ Chinese who came to New Zealand during the war period. The Rev. Geo. H. McNeur, veteran missionary from China, in speakingto the motion said: In doing this we are doing ourselves as a dominion a very good service in allowing these women and children to remain here. These people are making a contribution to our life here. These people are' doing much to increase production in this country.
