STATE HOUSING ALLOCATIONS TO EX-SERVICEMEN
A further 139 State rental houses and flats were allocated to ex-ser-vicemen tenants during October under the system whereby 50 per cent, of newly completed or vacant units go to ex-servicemen applicants. At the end of October the number of ex-servicemen’s allocations was 7554. Following are district allocations, those for October being given in parentheses: Auckland-North Auckland 2202 (48), Waikato-Bay of Plenty 578 (10), Hawke’s Bay-Pov-erty Bay 325 (7), Taranaki 211 (3), Wellington Province 2710 (47), Nel-son-Marlborough-Westland 169 (0), Canterbury Province 771 (12), Otago Province 429 (7), Southland 159 (5).
