ROTARY CAN MAKE BIG CONTRIBUTION TO WORLD PEACE
Although he had had doubts about the use of the Rotary Movement in the field of international affairs before his visit, these had been dispelled by his experience at the international assembly- and convention held in the United'States earlier this year, said Mr R. Gambrill, governor of the 52nd Rotary District, in an address to the Hamilton Rotary Club recently.
His experience was that Rotary International could-and. would provide a really worth-while contribution to the peace of the world. At the international asserhbly at Sun Valley there had been 178 district governor nominees, representing 45 nationalities and 67 'different countries. Of these 18 were educationalists, 12 medical and surgical men, 10 lawyers, six bakers, five publishers and newspaper men, six food distributors and three clergymen. International Aspect At the convention in San Francisco there had been 13,000 members in the building. He described the various discussion groups. Speaking on international service aspect of Rotary work Mr Gambrill said that one must not be too critical of the United States, which had a huge task to perform in the world today. He advocated assistance be-r ing given to the United States. In order to help one must understand and become conversant with the problems which faced that country. Mr Gambrill said that foreign delegates had impressed them that they were relying on Great Britain and the United States for the future security of the world.
