Situation At Auckland “Reasonably Satisfactory”

Yesterday morning there were 15 positive and 6 suspected cases in the Auckland hospital. One of the positive cases is an adult, and the others children ranging in age from nine months to ten years. The only other cases reported in the North Island in the week-end were a suspected case which was admitted to hospital at Gisborne on Saturday and three suspected cases reported in New Plymouth on Saturday by the medical officer of health for Taranaki. Two positive cases, one at Waitara and the other at Huiroa, had previously been reported in Taranaki. The medical officer of health at Auckland, Dr L. S. Davis, said on Sunday that the position in the Auckland district could be regarded as reasonably satisfactory. He stated that the ban on attendance at kindergartens and day nurseries which was announced on Friday had been extended to cover the ThamesTauranga health district.
