Save Petrol!

To help to save petrol and at the request of the Railways Department to send his produce by rail, a large wool farmer recently forwarded a quantity of bales to Waite tara station to be sent to Wanganui. At the station, the bales were unloaded into the goods shed and from there, they were taken and loaded into waggons. Shortly' after Road Services’ lorries arrived and the wool was unloaded from waggons, put into the lorries and taken by road to Wanganui. This was reported at a recent meeting of the Council of the North Island Motor Union, which was attended by the Oil Fuel Controller, Mr Laurenson, to explain his appeal fo the voluntary reduction of the use of petrol. Mr Laurenson said he would investigate the report.
