Knox Sunday School’s Successful Concert
Last evening at the King Street Hall, Knox Sunday School scored an outstanding success with the annual concert, when • the generally high grade of talent was the subject of popular comment. There was an excellent attendance. It would be difficult, and possibly even unfair, to single out any particular items for higher praise than any others, and none of the performers left the stage without a hearty ovation.
The scheduled programme opened with kindergarten choruses, and includetd these items :—Songs, “There’s a Big Lot of • Sunshine”, and “Pucker up and Whistle”, Mr 'George Pattersc.i and chorus; recitation, “Amelia”, Ann Stenhouse; violin solo, lan Breward; play, “Granny Green’s Chair”, Marlene Lynds,'Christine Lucas, Janice Bell -and Robin Kingsley-Smith; Highland fling, Janice Dixon and Carol King; Boys’ Brigade item (pipe duet), Donald McKenzie and Russell Hurst; action song and Maori hymn, Miss 'Kidd and Sunday School; “Widdicombe Fair”, junior boys; pianoforte duet, Pat and Vivian Murphy; song by the Lifeboys (Bruce Mollgaard, .-■soloist), “I’m Happy When I’m Hiking”; recitation, Shirley Whyte; song, “Fairy Fun”, Shirley Watts, Lucas, Mary Reid and chorus; “Coach and Four”, junior boys; “The Lesson of the Elves”, . junior girls; recitation, “The Wedding”, Janice Dixon; songs, “Blowing Bubbles” and “Butterfly, Butterfly”, girls; sketch, “Where •are you Going”, junior girls; -Highland fling, Janice Bell; tap dance, Shirley Whyte, Margaret and Janet Pithie; gym item; play, “Freckles”, junior Bible Class girls; closing verse and chorus, Sunday school Ipupils.
