Presentation Of Trophies On Closing Day At Whakatane Club Links

On the Whakatane Golf Club’s closing day of its 1947 season on. Saturday last, a mixed Canadian . Foursome competition was played over 18. holes. The winners were Mr and Mrs T. Burke with a nett score of 682. Mr R. Combes, president, in a brief speech, congratulated the winners of the various events and Mrs Combes presented the trophies to the following prize winners:— Women L.G.U. At the conclusion of the presentation of trophies, Mrs W. R. Sloane, President of the Ladies’ Golf Club, presented" Miss Val Carter, retiring secretary of the Ladies’ Club, with, a leather weekend bag in appreciation of her willing and capable efforts as secretary for five years. Three hearty cheers were given for Miss Carter.
