District High School Pupils Show High Grade Of Talent In Concert Items

, Approximately 500 people attended the High School concert on Wednesday evening. It commenced with two items by the infants and then the primary school provided the first half, in which “The Rose of Tralee” sung by Colin Davidson received the most applause.

i A very well-acted play entitled “The Dear Departed” was much appreciated by the audience. Then followed a group of songs by the combined 4th forms, this being followed by, “Some Tricks In SelfDefence,” which resulted in several of the competitors massaging sore places. Concluding items were songs by the choir, which exhibited a high grade of talent. Near the end of the first half, Mr I. B. Hubbard on behalf of the teachers, expressed thanks to the audience for co-operating with the performers by their quietness during and applause after each item, also to MrsnLysaght for assisting in playing for songs. Mr J.
