Delightful School Concert Presented In Waimana Hall
Waimana hall was the scene of a delightful school concert recently. The hall was well filled with parents and friends. The three teachers are to be congratulated on such a splendid; performance by the pupils, which showed the great amount of work put in by the teachers, Mrs Kay, head mistress and Misses Girven and Tizard.
During the evening 43 items were presented, songs, recitations, plays, piano solos, cowboy songs, Gypsy dance and Bavarian clap dance and back to front drill (which caused great laughter). A tap dance and Irish jig were well done by Miss Dora Wardlaw, and “To a Miniature,” was well presented by two seniors, Eleanor Grewthers, vocalist and Heni Ari. All items by tiny tots and all pupils were well received and received great applause. At the interval, the school children received ice creams. '
Mr R. F. Wardlaw, Chairman of the School Committee, announced the items and at the conclusion of the evening, congratulated the teachers and children on the grand performance. The teachers were then presented with lovely floral bouquets, by tiny tots, in appreciation of their good work. Mrs Kay, on behalf of herself and her assistants, suitably thanked Mr Wardlaw for his remarks, the school committee and all who helped with the function.
