Taneatua Proposal For Consolidation Of Gun Clubs

A proposal for the consolidation of .gun clubs in this district was introduced by Mr W. C. Davies at the annual meeting of the Taneatua Rod and Gun Club. Though there was a long discussion, the only decision reached was to hold an extraordinary general meeting on Monday night next to go into the matter again.

The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr B. Sladden; president, Mr W. C. Davies; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. L. Sisam, A. Mitchell, J. G. Cliff-McCulloch, J. Tebbutt; club captain, Mr A. Mitchell. After presenting his annnal report, the president, Mr Walter Sem|rnens, informed members that he would not again be available as president as he felt that it was a task for a younger man. His decision was received with very real regret by all and many members spoke feelingly of the long years of good and faithful service he had rendered to Rod and Gun Club affairs, not only in this district but throughout New Zealand. It was then moved and carried unanimously that Mr Semmens be made a life member of the Taneatua Rod and Gun Club, the club wishing him many more years of good shooting.
