Mutton Birders “On Their Marks”

Maori visitors from all parts of the Bay of Plenty are in Whakatane for the mutton bird season, which opens tomorrow morning on Whale Island. Advance parties went over to the island in the Port Whakatane under Capt Carey yesterday to prepare their camps,' and the main body of the “birders” will go today.
