Successful Trial Fours: Saturday’s Rowing Results
Further evidence of the increasing popularity of rowing in Whakatane was given last Saturday when the local club held a successful series of Trial Fours. Some fine racing was seen, indicating the progress of the numerous new members. Competition is already keen in the shed with regard to the points prizes awarded for successes during the season at Trial Fours, while the winning crew of Saturday’s races will hold the W. Stuart Cup. Results follow:
Ist Heat: B. Cutler, A. Atkinson, P. Armstrong, M. Brown (T. Windley cox) beat R. King, K. Hollis, K. Dines, J. Hudson (A. Delahunty cox) by \ length. 2nd Heat: G. Dines, M. Nicol, K. O’Rourke, B. Ellis (T. Reid cox) beat T. Reid, E. Hunt, W. Stuart, M. Whittaker (Dawson cox) by sft. 3rd Heat: G. Moore, S. Shapley, D. Debreceny, W: Sandham (Delahunty cox) beat H. Armstrong, B. McGougan, McCarthy, T. Stewart (R. Reid cox) by 2 lengths.
