Herald contains an interesting summary by the Mayor of Auckland, of activities over the past three years, and indications of works planned for the •• coming years, in that city. 7 . ._ Might I suggest that a similar message, to residents of Whakatane from our Mayor and some of the six councillors seeking re-election, would be likewise interesting, although necessarily much briefer. For instance, what has happened to the drainage scheme we heard so much about in 1936-37, and has any finality been reached regarding a decent water supply for the town? Surely we will not wait for for an epidemic to scare us into providing these elementary requirements. At the same time, let us hear from some of the new candidates for Municipal office. They surely have some constructive ideas to offer. Yours etc., RATEPAYER.
