Greater Use, Sought For N.Z.’s Non-Metallic Deposits
A greater use of New Zealand’s extensive non-metallic deposits is expected to result from extended and intensified investigations in that field which are to be undertaken by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The investigating work is to be done by an officer who is recognised as the outstanding authority in the Dominion on the composition of the country’s natural clays, Mr L. R. L. Dunn. There will be a close collaboration with the Pottery and Ceramic Research Association and the industry to ensure the immediate application of the results of the scientific work. This is expected to benefit the building industry, the manufacture of many earthenware products and the national economy in general.
