More Petrol Being Used

During the week ended August 23, when an official request was made for a 10 per cent, reduction in petrol consumption, there was a rush on supplies which brought consumption up from 2,000,000 gallons to 3,113,000 gallons in that week. In the following week consumption dropped to 2,670,000 gallons and in the first week of September it was 2,047,000 gallons, So, instead of saving 10 per cent, of their consumption, or 200,000 gallons a week, motorists actually purchased 1,830,000 gallons more than the normal quantity during those three weeks.— Consumer News.
