Consistency In his last'six starts over ten furlongs Tweedside, by Tweed 11, has scored five firsts and one second. This filly is a bit better than good.” Favourites For Cups Proctor is still a pronounced favourite for the Melbourne Cup, while the favourites for the Caulfield Cup are the New Zealand bred Lucky Robin, Irish Boy and St. Razzle.

Flowerburn was not especially suited to the going at Te Aroha, but since his return to Ellerslie has been galloping freely. As he is now coming down in the weights, he may be expected soon. A Racing Loss While galloping with Arco at Awapuni recently Typhoon fell and expired. He was a very brilliant galloper and among his victories were the North Island' Challenge Stakes, the Wellington Patriotic Handicap and the C.J.C. Metropiltan. Together with Foxhaven he held the N.Z. mile and a half record of 2min. 29 -isecs. the time in which he won the Patriotic Handicap in 1945. One For Magical One of the speediest juveniles trained at Riccarton is Magical by Balloch—Black Cat. He has started olf well by winning the McLean stakes at Dunedin. Purchased at the 1947 National Sales by Mr A. Louisson, of Christchurch, for 2000 guineas, and trained by F. D. Jones of Limerick and Royal Chief fame, he is very highly assessed in Canterbury. Three days after undergoing the tubing operation for respiratory trouble A 1 Sirat resumed work on the Riccarton tracks. Interest will be taken in this season’s racing performances of the Foxridge—Ann Acre five year old.
