81-WEEKLY BASIS
ATTENTION of readers is drawn to the article in today’s issue, announcing the re-establishment of the BEACON on a bi-weekly basis as from next week. This move has been made necessary by the growing stringency of the newsprint rationing and control, which has been exercised overseas. We appeal to our subscribers and advertisers to afford us their support over a further difficult period in the same manner in which they extended their loyalty during the stress of the war years, when circumstances dictated a similar move. The Directors in thanking the public of this district for their splendid co-operation in the past, desire to reassure residents generally that as soon as it becomes humanly possible to restore the paper to its tri-weekly status, it will be done. In the meantime it will be the Company’s earnest endeavour to continue to give the same local news service and advertising coverage it has always sought to fulfil in the past.
