WHAKATANE LADIES’ TOURNAMENT IDEAL CONDITIONS Pei’fect weather conditions attended the annual Golf Tournament pror moted by the Whakatane Ladies’ Club. Good scores were handed in and some excellent play witnessed. Details were:— By croft Rose Bowl First sixteen qualifiers for Bay of Plenty Championship: Mrs Hutchinson (Poverty Bay) versus Mrs Ferguson (Middlemore); Mrs Thomas (Whakatane) versus Miss Black (Whakatane); Mrs Maltby (Tau-. ranga) versus Miss Reynolds (Whakatane); Miss Robins (Whakatane)_ versus Mrs Brown (Cambridge); Mrs Hare (Tauranga) versus Mrs Swanger (Rotorua); Mrs Carr (Rotorua) versus Mrs Farmer (Te Puke); Mrs Steedman (Tauranga) versus Mrs Hardy (Cambridge); Mrs Penno (Rotorua) versus Mrs Symmans (Whakatane). The second sixteen played for the Whakatane Hadicap (Len Thompson. Cup). Details were:— . Miss Armstrong (Whaxatane) versus Mrs Luxton (Whakatane); Mrs Corkery (Gisborne) versus Mrs McDiamid (Putaruru); Miss Hyland (Whakatane) versus Miss Baxter (Whakatane); Mrs Galloway (Rotorua) versus Mrs Berg (Whakatane); Mrs Otley (Whakatane) versus Mrs Young (Te Puke); Mrs Cotter (Tauranga) versus Miss Carter (Whakatane); Mrs Watts (Gisborne) versus Mrs Fogerty (Whakatane); Mrs Monk (Rotorua) versus Mrs Carter (Opotiki). There will be further flights forremaining players. The finalists of the championships will commence play at approximately Ip.m. at No. 1 tee on Thursday (tomorrow) afternoon.
