DOG POISONER AT WORK WELL KNOWN PET DESTROYED Exhibiting all the usual symptoms of poisoning, one of Whakatane’s best known dogs Mr W. Hume’s Collie ‘Rex’, died on Saturday last. The wave of indignation which swept the town nine months ago when some twenty-five dogs fell victim to the unscrupulous activities of a poisoner, who incidentally was never brought to account, is likely to be reawakened in the present instance, and dog owners are warned once more to take all precautions. Once again we appeal to all residents to co-operate in the task of discovering the perpetrator, who for years past has periodically poisoned dogs and cats in this town with impunity.
