Proctor For N.Z. The owner of the Sydney stayer, Proctor, has withdrawn his candidate from the Metropolitan Handicap and early spring engagements with a view of contesting the Auckland Cup on Boxing Day. Change Of Colours The Manawatu jumper, Ruling Nation, is now to carry the racing colours of Mrs A. Lile, New Plymouth, but will still be trained by George New at Awapuni. Sea Trip Cancelled As accommodation will not be available by boat it has been de- . finitely decided that Bruce will not fulfil his Melbourne Cup engagement. The Royal Chief representative will therefore remain in this country for the New Zealand and Auckland Cups. Better Days To Come ! . The Beaulivre—Cuddle three year old filly, Renowned, has not yet liv-. ed up to her name, but nevertheless there is hope for her this season, as she is sure to improve with age. In the last racing year she had 11 starts for two seconds and two fourths. In the coming week she is to be transferred from Riccarton to W. J. Bromby’s stable at Tren'tham, and may be benefitted to the change of climate. The Marion Secretary Miss F. L. Way, daughter of the late secretary, has been appointed acting-secretary to- the Marton Jockey Club. First of the Probations Jacquinot Bay, a heavily backed two year old, trained at Masterton by Ashley Jenkins, is the first of the Probations to race. Although not used to a right-handed, track he ran a good race and will see a better day. Leaders For 1947

The Gisborne hope for the richly endowed Auckland Cup is the Lang Bian—Quaint gelding,. .King’s Ransom. Last season, as a three year old, he was started on nine occasions and his record was one of the best in the Dominion, viz., five wins, two seconds and a third.
Highly Related Messrs. R., and A. Stead, Hawke’s Bay, have in work the two year old filly, -Hinepai, by Probation—Princess Ball, and she is' reported to be a speedy galloper. Interest will be taken in this juvenile as she is a half-sister to the Melbourne owned Record Reign, by Coronach, that made history by realising at the National Sale New Zealand’s highest price nearly £SOOO. In the meantime Record Reign is not especially in the public mind and so far she has not won a race. '
