PIG PRODUCTION
WINTER FEED SUPPLIES SUBSIDY SCHEME Advice that the Primary Industries Controller had notified all Pig Councils that the Government pig crop subsidy scheme would not be proceeded with during the coming season, has been received in Whakatane by the secretary of the Bay of Plenty District Pig Council, Mr N. W. Carter. A compensating increase in price, it whs pointed out, was likely to be made and it was still vital to the maintenance of pig production that farmers produced as much winter feed as possible; because imported feeding-stuffy would not be available in any great-quantity next winter.
