Social implications in the. new primary school geography and history syllabus have been overstressed, according to a group of Auckland head teachers whose views have been published in “National Education,” organ of the New Zealand Educational Institute. “While we agree that history and geography are social studies at the post-prim-ary stage, we believe that the overstressing of this social, aspect has little meaning for the child at the primary school level,’ their report states.
