BOROUGH EXPANSION Sir, —Allow me to offer my congratulations on your timely article of August 22 on Borough expansion. It is one of many very worthwhile suggestions from time to time that’ we read in the Beacon leaders. Our Borough Fathers and Chamber of Commerce seem very sluggish in solving what to the ordinary citizen seems to be the only practical solution to many local problems. To think of the Paper Mills employees travelling five miles twice daily five times weekly when such a ' short route of one mile on the western shore would solve the problem for the enterprising. What are the tradesmen thinking of, a residential area over the harbour or “Oceanside” as you so aptly term it with consequential shorter deliveries would be only too welcome, one would think, just for the cost of a bridge adjacent to the Strand. We know these structures are not built for nothing, but' they last for ages once built and to a go-ahead Borough, this is nothing. Yours etc., M. THOMPSON.
