FAREWELL DANCE

WAINUI FUNCTION MISS BEVERLEY REID The Wainui'school was the scene of a farewell dance on a recent evening, when Miss Beverley Reid was the- guest. The school room was tastefully decorated with spring flowers for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs M. -King supplied the dan'ce music, while Mr Harry White as usual made a most efficient M.C. The Monte Carlo waltzes were both won by Mr and Mrs M. Burke. A most delicious home-made supper was served by,the ladies, after which Mr Malcolm Burke, called on Miss Reid to come forward and accept a handbag and its contents from the Wainui settlers. Miss Reid had been assistant teacher for many years at the Wamui school and proved herself most capable* and a good teacher, stated the speaker. She would be greatly missed by the children and parents. Miss Reid always took an active part in sport and helped with functions generally. Mr Burke wished Miss Reid the best of luck and health when she went to Hamilton. Miss Reid thanked Mr Burke and all for the lovely gift and evening and for the many kindnesses to her during her stay at Wainui. She was very sorry to be leaving, but owing to her family’s ill-health she was heeded nearer to her home.

Dancing continued and “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem closed the evening.
