LABOUR DANCE

AWAKERI FUNCTION The dance sponsored by the Whakatane Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held in the Awakeri Hall on Saturday night and at tracted a very large attendance. Among those present were members of the Grafton Rugby team as guests of the evening. • The position, of M.C. was ably controlled and was in the capable hands of Mr Taffy Atkinson. Successful competitors! in the Waltzing competition were Mr and Mrs IL M. Carter, Edgecumbe. Other prize winners were Mr B. Biddle and Mrs R. Stewart in the Jack Moore Monte Carlo, Mr Fred Rowson and Mrs Ruegg, Gay Gor.dons, and Mr R. Armstrong and Mrs C. Cruse in the„Lucky Spot Foxtrot. Ticket holder winners, Mr A. Atkinson 1 and Mr L. Richards 2.

Repetition was the order for extras played by Mr Martin Matchitt in the inimitable style of Boogie Woogie and excellent dance music was provided by the Rhythm Vendors!. •
