DEMAND FROM OVERSEAS
COURSES IN AGRICULTURE Many applications from England, Kenya, India, and Australia for admission as students to Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, are causing concern to the College authorities, who cannot provide hostel accommodation for the number applying. It is considered that the risk of boarding accommodation not being available in Palmerston North for these men from overseas makes difficult the acceptance of their applications for courses, which in the main are for sheep and dairy farming, and dairy science. Seven agricultural students from India have been studying in New Zealand over the last two years. On return to their own country, from which they came to the Dominion on bursaries granted by the Indian Government, they will take up instructional work in Government departments. Official requests that a large number of other students from India should be accommodated in courses at Palmerston North have been received, but many have had to be declined because of the hostel accommodation problem. Other applications, include .two or three enrolments from Kenya, some from Victoria (Australia) for courses in dairy science, and several from England for farming courses.
