FIELD VERMIN

CAMPAIGN FOR DESTRUCTION SHAGS, HAWKS AND STOATS With a view to eliminating as much as possible the field vermin in this district the District Ranger has arranged with the Rod and Gun Club a scheme whereby the bounty payable on shags, hawks, stoats and weasels can be made forthwith without the lengthy procedure hitherto entailed of sending vouchers on to the Internal Affairs Department. In the Whakatane district it will now be possible for sportsmen to produce the evidence of their kills to the President of the Rod and Gun Club (Mr J. D. Rivett) who will pay the cash bonus direct as follows: Shags heads and feet 2/- (less tax). Hawks feet 6d (less tax). Stoats and weasels tails 2/(less tax). - It is hoped by this arrangement to stimulate the campaign against all the natural enemies of fish and game in this area.
