WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MATATA BRANCH. JULY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Matata Women’s Institute was held in the King’s Theatre on Wednesday, July 23. There was a very good attendance of members. Mrs H. Burt was in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. There were a number of competitions, which were enjoyed by all. There were quite large entries in these and the results were as follows: Best flower: Mrs Magee 1, Mrs Henderson 2, Mrs Parkinson 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Bagley 1, Mrs Conn 2, Miss Burt 3. Spring bulbs: Miss Burt 1, Mrs Smith 2, Mrs Reichardt 3. Jam tarts: Mrs ' Smith 1, Mrs Dredge 2, Mrs Mac Gill 3. • After a very dainty afternoon tea the meeting closed. The hostesses were Mrs Wilson and Mrs Magee.
