BASKETBALL
GISBORNE TOURNAMENT LAST SATURDAY’S PLAY A tournament held in Gisborne last Saturday in the Kathleen Henderson Memorial Shield was attended by A and B teams from Whakatane. Both teams played very well and are to be congratulated on their performance even though they did not succeed in bringing the shield back. Results were as follows: Wbakatane A 12 v Rangers 2; Whakatane A 6 v Redwing 6; Whakatane A 11 v Napier Ex High School 5; Whakatane 11 v Taradale 1; Whakatane A 11 v Wairoa Ex High School 7. Whakatane B 6 v Hastings 5; Kiora 4 v Whakatane B 4; Gisborne Old, Girls 3 v Whakatane B 2; High School C 5 v WhakataneJß 7.
